 Hour of Code

 

Today all the students who are coming to the media center will be learning how to "code".  The Hour of Code is just the first step on a journey to learn more about how technology works and how to create software applications.  I encourage you to learn more about coding by visiting the Learn Code.org.

HFE Teachers

Tell how you use technology or a story about your first experiences using technology.

We were the first family in Wisconsin to get a personal computer: the Apple II E.  Of course, all I did was play Break Out and Sabotage while I listened to cassette tapes on my cassette player.  Now I play Hearts and Logo Quiz on my tablet while I play music from my Amazon Cloud Player. Ms. Grothe

I remember when I was in elementary school our Apple computers were one unit. The screen was attached to the keyboard. The only color you saw was green and the keyboard was incredibly loud! Oh and we played Number Munchers all the time!  Ms. Mulcahy

I remember typing on a typewriter when I was in middle-school.  My teacher assigned the class a 10 page paper that had to be typed, double-spaced, and free of errors.  I was so mad when I ran out of ribbon and had to run to the store to get one that fit my device.  I hated the sound that the backspace button made.  I was annoyed when the words on my page turned out to be crooked.  I thank the person who came up with Microsoft Word.  I don't have to worry about making mistakes or making sure that my page is aligned properly.  Writing papers for school has become as simple as writing an email.  Word processing software has changed my life!  Ms. Bob-Manuel

I use my iphone for many different things.  These things may include games, calling, texting, and email.  What I use most is texting or gaming.  This keep me in contact with friends.  My phone is not only used for fun, it is also for emergency.  Rachel

Technology means to me a smarter world.  I normally use technology for video games.  Ethan

Technology is what I use everyday, it helps me survive the real world.  Its what I use for my Ipad mini.  Without technology how would I live?????  Tamara

I use technology for my email, games and homework.  My technology devices are computer; laptop, iphone, and ipad on my computer; laptop I use for email, some games and my homework, on my iphone.  I play some games and I use it for communication.  My ipad I play games and I do educational games.  Margot

Technology means electric resources, like phones and computers.  I use technology today with phones to help us communicate even through long distances.  Sometimes computers can also help communicate with email.  Isabella

I think technology is a source for things.  It can be for fun or for working.  Computers help with science fair or for fun websites.  TV's can be for entertainment or to listen to the news around the world.  Technology helps you in many ways and I just wrote how.  Nicole

I use technology when I use my kindle to read.  I also use technology when I get on the computer and I learn and play games.  Some more way I use technology is when I play on my brother's tablet and when I call people on my mom's phone and when I play games on her phone.  Piper

I use the computer when I want to know the weather so I can get in just the right outfit.  Talia

Technology is a good resource for school and home.  At home I use my computer to play games and make powerpoints.  At school I use technology to type reports.  I also do Keyboarding afterschool.  That is what technology means to me.  Paulina
